Rappelling, a controlled descent down a rope, is a powerful, unforgettable activity that teaches you to “lean not on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5). This outdoor adventure will stretch the mental and physical limits of your group!
Stepping off the edge takes faith that the rappel system is trustworthy and safe. Both teens and adults come to grips with what true Christian faith looks like while rappelling on the spectacular cliffs of the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve. A Bible devotional time with your qualified guide gives your school group, youth group, or church group the chance to grow closer to God.
Minimum Age: 11 years old
March – November
Closed toe shoes with backs (no Crocs, please!) are required for rappelling. Comfortable, modest clothing that is not restricting or binding is encouraged. Shorts should be at least fingertip length so that a seat harness may be worn comfortably. Long hair may not be worn loose; it must be tied back or pulled up. An outer layer such as a light jacket or sweatshirt is always a good idea!
- All participants should bring any necessary medications with them (e.g., inhalers, required prescriptions, allergy medications, or epi-pen).
- Participants may also want to have insect repellent on trips.
- Guests who wear contact lenses may want to consider wearing glasses on trips or carry a travel size solution kit for activities.
