Ruth Sylvester

Administrative Assistant to the Vice President for Extension Ministries
(i.e., Camp Secretary!)

In the spring of 2021, I graduated from Appalachian Bible College with a degree in Bible/Theology and Youth & Family Ministry with a concentration in Biblical Counseling. I have worked at Alpine for three summers, being a counselor, head counselor, and program assistant.

The first time I heard of Alpine was through ABC, when I sensed God leading me to counsel for a summer while in college. Having never even attended camp before, even as a camper, it was a new and growing experience. It was a decision that was outside my comfort zone—and now I love camp! I have enjoyed seasonally working at Alpine in the past, and now am happy to be serving here year-round.

My favorite verse is Proverbs 31:30: “Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.” Having a heart for the Lord is more important than anything else.
