Our Team
Dave Holloway
Vice President for Extension Ministries/Director of Alpine Bible Camp
Dave has been involved in camp and retreat ministries for over 34 years. He is a teacher, disciple maker, carpenter, scuba pro, ski patroller, mission trip leader, husband, father, and grandfather with decades of leadership under his belt. A 1981 graduate of Tennessee Temple University, he has served at Alpine since 2002. Dave loves seeing young lives changed through camp ministry and counselors grow in their relationships with the Lord. Dave’s life verse is Philippians 4:13.
Dave’s wife Sharon cares for the landscaping around Alpine’s beautiful campus. She is also a gifted teacher and for many years led each week of Day Camp.
Ruth Knicely
Director of Retreats
At the age of 12, while attending a church camp, Ruth dedicated her life to serving the Lord. But it wasn’t until college that she developed an interest in — and eventual love for — camp ministry. Ruth began her service at Alpine during her college years, serving as a summer camp counselor. Since 1982 she has served in a variety of capacities, from dining room hostess to equipment truck driver — and nearly everything in between. She has served as the Director of Retreats since 2003. Ruth is a 1986 graduate of Appalachian Bible College. Her life verse is I Samuel 12:24.
John Sharp
Director of Alpine Adventures
John Sharp graduated from Appalachian Bible College with a Th.B. in Pastoral and Youth Ministries. He began serving at ABC full time in 2004 with responsibilities as the Dean of Men, Soccer Coach and Alpine Adventures Assistant. In 2015, he became the Co-Director of Alpine Adventures. John desires to point people toward a closer walk with the Lord through God’s Word and personal interaction. Camp ministry has played a major role in his spiritual development, which ignites his passion to be used at Alpine Ministries. John and his wife, Lee Ann (a 2006 ABC grad and former camp counselor and summer worker at Alpine), have two sons, Levi and Josiah. They love spending time together, often in outdoor activities such as soccer, hiking, hunting, and fishing. John’s life verse is 1 Corinthians 15:58.
Jonathan Lorch
Alpine Adventures Assistant
After graduating from Appalachian Bible College in 2013 with a double major in Bible/Theology and Camping Ministry, Jonathan married his wife, Alaina, and they began traveling as Admissions Representatives for ABC. During those 3 years of travel Jonathan continued to grow in his love for camp ministry as he served with Alpine during the summer months. He now works for Alpine full-time and he loves the opportunities that Adventure trips offer to share about the Lord and enjoy God’s creation.
Jonathan also serves as the men’s soccer coach for ABC. On the side he enjoys running, hunting, and other outdoor recreation. Competing on American Ninja Warrior, Jonathan made it to the city finals in 2017. God has blessed the Lorches with a son, Nehemiah, and a daughter, Kylette. Jonathan’s life verse is Colossians 3:23-24.
Andrew Davis
Program Director
Andrew was born and raised just 30 minutes away from Alpine in Ansted, West Virginia. He graduated from Appalachian Bible College in 2016 with a double major in Bible/Theology and Elementary Education. Upon graduation he and his wife, Micailah, moved to her home state of Michigan where he served as a youth pastor for 3 years and in a Christian school for 3 years. Andrew has returned home with Micailah, their son AJ (Andrew John) and twin sons Jackson and Jordan. In July of 2022, Andrew and Micailah welcomed a daughter, Laynie, to the family.
Previously, Andrew has served with Alpine as an Adventure Guide and as the Program Director for the summer of 2019 while Micailah oversaw the Operations staff. In 2022 Andrew returned to Alpine as the Program Director. He loves the state of West Virginia and all of the outdoor activities that it has to offer including hunting and fishing. One of Andrew’s favorite verses is Lamentations 3:24.
Ruth Storey
Administrative Assistant to the Vice President for Extension Ministries (i.e., Camp Secretary!)
In the spring of 2021, Ruth graduated from Appalachian Bible College with a degree in Bible/Theology and Youth & Family Ministry with a concentration in Biblical Counseling. She has worked at Alpine for several summers as a counselor, head counselor, and program assistant.
The first time Ruth heard of Alpine was through ABC, when she sensed God leading her to counsel for a summer while in college. Having never even attended camp before, even as a camper, it was a new and growing experience. It was a decision that was outside her comfort zone—and now she loves camp! In January 2024, Ruth married Braedon and moved to North Carolina, but she still enjoys serving Alpine from a distance.
Ruth’s favorite verse is Proverbs 31:30: “Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.” This verse is an important reminder for her that a heart for the Lord is more important than anything else.
